FAQs
-
Caitie created these services for middle-income renters and homeowners who are motivated to improve their space, and are able to reasonably invest in their home or rental property.
-
Lots! Caitie is a formally trained interior designer and colour expert, committed to comfortable, functional, and beautiful design.
She can help optimize and beautify the home you live in, or advise on a furnished rental property like a basement suite or Airbnb.
-
While Caitie loves and appreciates many different design styles, she prefers working with transitional (aka modern traditional), organic modern, midcentury modern, English country, and Bohemian styles.
Think neutrals and earth tones, wood and natural materials, warm lighting, soft textures, and functional decor.
Caitie can also design for bolder palettes and eclectic styles
-
Absolutely! Small space design is a special interest of Caitie’s. While living small can be challenging, it’s totally doable when your space is maximized and your rooms are optimized. Caitie can help improve the layout, flow, comfort, and function of your home to ensure you’re making the most of it.
-
Sure thing. Big improvements can often be made by simply rearranging your existing furniture and properly styling your belongings. Caitie is happy to work with what you have and/or suggest reasonable alternatives to improve the beauty and function of your home!
-
You bet. Choosing colour palettes, interior finishes, and furnishings can be daunting, but Caitie has extensive additional colour training and can assist in the selection process. She’ll help identify your inspiration piece(s) and show you how to build your palette around them, creating an intentional and cohesive interior.
-
Many interior designers charge three-figure hourly rates, and only take on large-scale renovations or new builds with substantial budgets. Recognizing a gap, Caitie developed these services for middle-income folks doing smaller-scale projects, so more homeowners and renters could access design expertise.
Even so, you must be willing and able to invest several hundred to a several thousand dollars into your space(s), depending on your project. For example, even painting a room yourself may still cost a few hundred dollars in supplies; any major furniture piece will be at least $1,000; even affordable throw pillows cost at $30-40 each; etc.
That said, Caitie is a big fan of thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, HomeSense, IKEA, liquidation outlets, and using what you already own to create beautiful, affordable interiors!
NOTE: The cost of materials and furnishings is on top of design fees, which you can discuss with Caitie at the outset of the project.
